On this live album, Dublin's Frames
set dark Radiohead-style arena rock over textures ranging from craggy folk
grooves (complete with mandolin, piano and brushed drums) to guitar-heavy
punk thrash. The gulf between their homegrown rootsiness and Brit-pop theatrics
is a little hard to take, but the sound is plenty raw, and the songs are
usually memorable. RATING: *** |
