The annual Irish music awards, "The
Meteors", took place on Monday night in the Point Theatre, Dublin in front
of 7000 fans and industry.
On the night, The Frames won the
coveted award for Best Irish Band, an award given to U2 on many previous
occasions! The Frames were nominated in 3 categories altogether (Best Irish
Band , Best Irish Album and Best Irish Male Singer).
The nominees were put forward by
members of the music industry and then it was over to the public to cast
their votes!
Earlier in the evening the band performed
their top 5 single 'Fake'. 2003 was a great year for the band with their
live album ‘Set List’ going straight into the charts at Number One and
reaching Platinum status in a matter of months. It has since gone double
Platinum and is still residing in the top 30!
The band have recently returned from
Chicago where they were working on tracks for their forthcoming and much
anticipated studio album. They will head back to the U.S later this month
to tour as special guests with Damien Rice and then it’s off to China in
May to perform in Beijing as part of a government cultural exchange programme. |
